New Year, New Me! 2021 Goals + Digital Vision Board

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2021, the year we’ve alllllll been waiting for after the …. interesting year of 2020 (lol). For 2021, I have decided to create a digital vision board for multiple reasons. First, I do not have the patience of creating a physical vision board & also don’t have the time. Creating a digital vision board was way easier for me since I am more tech savvy. Second, with me creating a digital vision board, I am able to set it as my wallpaper of my devices so that I can have a constant reminder of my goals to serve as motivation. I initially shared my digital vision board in my first Youtube video on my channel for 2021 but I wanted to post this accompanying blog post to explain my rationale, strategy and though process I used when setting my 2021 goals.

During the last week of the year, I always sit down and write out my goals for the following year. This year, the first thing that I did was create a “vomit list” where I basically jotted down everything I want my goals to include. This allowed me to ensure that I include all of my goals into my digital vision board. I then went in Photoshop and created my digital vision board with images that I found on Google. If you are interested in how I created my digital vision board, you can reference this video where I shared Photoshop Basics of how I create graphics in Photoshop. You can also create digital vision boards in Canva, Apple Keynote, or Microsoft PowerPoint. It did require some patience, I will say that & I had to keep revisiting with a fresh pair of eyes to make sure it looked good. Therefore, I did work on mine over a time span of several days.

When creating goals, you want to make sure they’re S.M.A.R.T:

  1. Specific - Your goal should include what you want to do. When creating your goals, use action words that will motivate you to do what needs to get done. It’s helpful to set values, deadlines and narrow. It’s better to set particular goals vs. one big goal. For instance, instead of me setting my goal as “I want to grow on social media”, I broke my goals into how much I want to grow on each social media platform, which made them more specific.

  2. Measurable - Make sure that the goals you are making for yourself are measurable. Your goals should be created in a way where you’re able to evaluate your progress For instance, instead of my goal being “I want to grow on Instagram”, I set my goal as “I want to reach 100,000 followers on Instagram”. You can make your goals specific by attaching a certain number, value, time, or location to your goal.

  3. Attainable - You want to ensure that your goals are items that you can actually accomplish. While your’e setting your goals, make sure what you’re setting to get done is realistic.

  4. Relevant - The goals that you set for yourself should make sense for you, your business, your brand, your lifestyle, etc. When setting goals for yourself, its important to set goals that are important to you and level up the lifestyle that YOU want for YOURSELF!

  5. Time Based - Make sure you set deadlines and timelines for each goal. I like to also break my annual goals into monthly and quarterly (aka bite sized goals). For instance, while my goals is to reach 100,000 Instagram followers, I broke that goal into 25,000 Instagram followers each quarter.

How you can tell that you set good goals for yourself?

  1. You get inspired whenever you review your list of goals, physical vision board or digital vision board. You should be able to look at your goals or vision board and feel inspired to get s* done! Whenever, I’m having an off day or feel unmotivated or uninspired, I look at my digital vision board and it serves a pick-me-up to get work done.

  2. You feel like you’re living a healthier lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle when it comes to diet, productivity, mental health, etc. Your goals should be able to drive your life in a positive direction in multiple aspects of your life.

  3. You see yourself making progress. If you feel stagnant or don’t notice any growth, you should revisit your goals and analyze why you aren’t making any progress. We need to be growing & glowing all 2021!

I hope that these tips can help you create or revise your 2021 goals so that we can all have a productive, successful year.
